Wildroot Wedding Colour Trend for Weddings 2018

One of the four popular wedding colour trends this year that we are using as a inspiration for our wedding booth design at this weekend’s Ottawa Wedding Show, April 7-8th, 2018 at the EY Centre, is a grouping of colours called Wildroot. This colour trend really resonated with me, I grew up on a organic farm, my youth was spent running in the fields and jumping ditches of soft Golden rod (which is now domesticated as Solidago), dried grasses with hints of burgundy and greys and the rich tones of wood in our barn and post and beam home.

Once again burgundy as an accent will be a popular colour used in weddings through decor and bouquets and the softer side of these tones include radish, salmon and ochre*. Lavender or any colour based in the purple ranges has yet again continued to elevate, lighten and brighten the palette along with yellow and orange. Gray flannels and gray washed containers and vases. Fabrics that are soft and sheer like jute and muslin. The use of wood and reclaimed wood, branch material like willow, dogwood and apple branches will also be ongoing them.  Don’t feel like all these colours need to be coordinated into your wedding, pick two or three that you really love.

I believe that as we become more technologically driven there will always be the flip side where people need to be grounded in nature, natural colours and tones and wood. I am so glad to see that couples planning their wedding this year have embraced this trend.  Couples want their wedding event to be meaningful, tell their love story, and be an extension of who they are and what they embrace.

We will have lots of design inspiration at our booth #718 this weekend, as well as mini-design demos starting at 11 am, 1 and 3 pm. We will show you how to add florals to a lantern, create a garland and design a simple but effective centrepiece on both days of the show. Contact me, we have a few complimentary tickets left to the show.
